Private lessons are personally arranged with the tennis teaching professionals on staff and charged at a rate of


$65.00 per hour (1-2 Students)
$10 extra for each additional student attending the lesson


Fees for lessons with an assistant professional will be slightly lower. Any lesson canceled less than 24 hours in advance will be charged. Only teaching professionals on our staff will be allowed to conduct lessons or hitting sessions in our club.

2009-10 Fall Winter Junior Programs

MEMBER ONLY CLASSES:
90 Minute Classes / $126 Per Class Day

Beginning Intermediate players will experience intermediate techniques at a moderate pace.  This class is for those students who have moved up from the Advanced Beginner or Teen Beginner class.  Students will focus on learning basic singles and doubles strategies and must know how to properly play and score a game. 

Thu 5:30–7:00pm            Fri  4:30–6:00pm         Sat  1:30–3:00pm         Sun  1:00–2:30pm


Intermediate students are required to hit all of the shots and have the ability to play full court tennis.  Improving stroke mechanics along with singles and doubles strategies is the main focus of the class.

Sun  10:30-12:00pm or  1:00-2:30pm

Advanced Intermediate  participants are highly motivated, hard-working players who are on their junior high or high school teams.  Players are working on topspin and slice ground strokes, spin serves and more advanced strategies.  Students must play a minimum of two times per week; exceptions made for those participating in another same season sport, with approval by Tennis Director.

Advanced players have mastered topspin forehands and backhands, spin serves and display game strategy when playing each point.  Students must play a minimum of two times per week, unless participating in another same season sport.

Invitational students are on their respective high school varsity or junior varsity teams plus are competing in tournaments and are very dedicated to their game!  Players will be able to demonstrate a variety of strategies throughout their matches.  Players are enrolled and placed by the tennis professional staff.   This level will be divided into two groups- Invitational #1 & Invitational #2 (higher)  but practice simultaneously  on a couple of days.

*Note:  Course offerings may change due to enrollment interest and demand.  At times during the year we may make modifications in the junior schedule to accommodate juniors moving into and out of classes.  

Members pre-registering for more than one session will be charged $25 per class at time of registration.  This fee is non- refundable if students drop the class.  The fee will be applied to each session and the net fee will be billed in the month that the student participates in a session.

Tiny Stars is an introduction to the sport of tennis for children ages 5 to 7.  Each class is 30 minutes long, where having fun is the primary goal.  Players will learn forehand and backhand ground strokes and volleys.

Advanced Tiny Stars is for children ages 5 – 7 who have previously participated in our Tiny Star Program. Our teaching staff will select players for this program.  Each class is 30 minutes long where preparing for the beginner level is the goal. Players will learn forehand and backhand ground strokes and volleys.

MEMBER / NON-MEMBER CLASSES:
60 Minute Classes
$85 Members $95 Non-Members

Beginner students will experience a one hour long class for children 8 – 11 who have little or no playing experience.  Players will be exposed to all aspects of tennis including ground strokes, volleys, serves, returns, along with a variety of fun tennis games.  Introduction to scoring will be covered during the session.

Advanced Beginner students ages 7 – 11 who have little or no playing experience.  Players will be exposed to all aspects of tennis including ground strokes, volleys, serves, returns and some match play. Students should be able to “feed” a ball (bounce hit to another player) and game and set scoring should be mastered before moving up to Beginning Intermediate level.

Teen Beginner is similar to the Beginner/Advanced Beginner classes but for players age 12 and up who have little or no playing experience.  Players will be exposed to all aspects of tennis including ground strokes, volleys, serves and returns.

Junior Evaluation Procedures

PAYMENT NOTE: Members: No over the phone registrations. Members may fax (952-404-2033) or e-mail their registration forms.
Non-members: All Non-members registering for Fall/Spring classes, must pay at time of registration. No Faxed registration forms for non-members.

Junior Programs

The primary goal of the Junior Program at the Minnetonka Tennis Club is to teach and promote the fundamentals of tennis within a fun, encouraging, and creative atmosphere. In the summer, most of the juniors will participate in the National Junior Tennis League where area country clubs and community programs play informal singles and doubles matches against one another.


The Junior Program is divided into the following categories:

Tiny Stars

Tiny stars is an introduction to the sport of tennis for children ages 5 to 7. Each class is 30 minutes long where having fun is the primary goal. Players will learn forehand and backhand ground strokes and volleys.

Advanced Tiny Stars:

This class is for children ages 5-7 who have previously participated in our Tiny Star Program- A teaching pro will select players for this program. Each class is now 45 minutes long where preparing for the beginner level is the goal. Players will learn forehand and backhand groundstrokes and volleys.

Beginner

This is a one-hour long class very similar to the Tiny Stars class but for children 8-11 who have little or no playing experience. Players will be exposed to all aspects of tennis including groundstrokes, volleys, serves/returns, along with a variety of fun tennis games.

Advanced Beginner

For children ages 7 to 12 who have little or no playing experience. Players will be exposed to all aspects of tennis including ground strokes, volleys, serves/returns and some match play.

Teen Beginner / Pre Intermediate:

For players ages 12 and up who have had instruction, can hit all of the shots and have the ability to play full court tennis. Improving stroke mechanics along with singles and doubles strategies is the main focus of the class. During the summer players in this program will have the opportunity to compete against other country clubs around the area.

Begining Intermediate

This class is for those who just left the Advanced Beginner or Teen Beginner class. Intermediate techniques will be approached at a slower rate along with learning basic singles and doubles strategies. Playing in the matches on Fridays is strongly encouraged.

Intermediate:

For players ages 7-12 who have had instruction, can hit all of the shots and have the ability to play full court tennis. Improving stroke mechanics along with singles and doubles strategies is the main focus of the class. During the summer players in this program will have the opportunity to compete against other country clubs around the area.

Advanced/Advanced Intermediate:

This level is for highly-motivated, hard-working players who are on their junior high or high school teams. Players are working on topspin forehands and backhands, spin serves, and more advanced strategies.

Advanced/Invitational:

These players are on their respective high school varsity or junior varsity teams. These players are competing in tournaments and are very dedicated to their game. Players are enrolled by approval only! For further detail on our levels, check out our "Skills & Criteria" description.
